Smart watch - and more! Part 2

Time magazine says Apple's Smart watch will be “new and slightly unnerving.”
“It's small and surprisingly light . . . sits on the wrist naturally. It doesn't feel overly showy or intrusive.”
But it supports and controls “dozens of apps . . . weather, stocks, passbook, photos, maps, calendar . . . your iPhone's music and camera . . . your thermostat, your door locks, your television and your lights” and “is designed to replace credit card swipes.”
“It tracks your movements. It listens to your heartbeat . . . tracks how many steps you take and whether you're exercising enough or sitting down too long.” It's your coach, doctor, secretary, intimate friend, and more.
First, many people who don't want God intruding into their lives will nevertheless willingly accept this intrusive technology! “Piper Jaffray estimates first-year sales at 10 million units.”
Second
, this “Apple Watch signals the advent of an always-there Internet”.
Here's “the paradox . . . it both gives you control and takes it away at the same time”! That's because these days such information can be copied and circulated!

Third
, would we be embarrassed if public knowledge and wide circulation of our personal Christian commitment was outside our control?
Imagine if, next year, 10 million people let God into their lives anyway!

Smart watch - and more! Part 1

Apple creates demand that previously didn't exist.
First
, Time magazine (22.9.14) says Apple “takes products we never wanted and convinces us we can't live without them. It does this better than any company in the world.”
What a parallel with our Christian message! We too seek to show humanity a need of something that mankind in general says it doesn't want - God's love and forgiveness.
Yet when we do find salvation through Christ we are convinced that we can't live without it.

Second
, in early 2015 Apple wants to put new technology where it's never been particularly welcome before - on our bodies. It's their new and amazing Smart watch. Over and over their sales pitch for this product uses the words “personal” and “intimate”.
Time
says “it's true in the most literal way possible . . . the Apple Watch wants to get intimate with us in a way we're not entirely used to and may not be prepared for. This isn't just a new product; this is technology attempting to colonise our bodies.”
Third
, God too wants to do something we may not be prepared for - take up intimate residence with us by his personal indwelling presence. John 14.17,20,23.

How intimate does God want to be? He says, “I will never leave you” Hebrews 13.5.
