Let a Child Pray - Part 3

What is prayer? It is our personal contact with God.
First, our children should know that prayer is not our idea. It is God's idea. He created us to be in relationship with him. So he says, “Call to me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” Jeremiah 33.3.
“Delight yourself also in the Lord, and he shall give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37.4.
Second, we cannot, of course, know all there is to know about God - “How unsearchable are his judgments and his ways past finding out!” Romans 11.33. But the one important thing we do know about him is that “God so loved the world . . .” John 3.16. He therefore wants us - and our children - to accept his love.
But, third, because we and our children are sinners, this prayer of confession is essential for each of us: “if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1.9.
How wonderful that our Creator-God is not only willing to forgive us, but also to clean up our lives - something no one else can do.

Our prayers can be like seeds. Plant them now and expect future blessings.
